The Idea

Plate set created for people with arthritis. Based on their needs for more comfortable plates. Changing the high, grasp area and shape, using nature as inspiration.

Tubular handle has better grip

Straight edges interfere with ergonomics

The hand has to twist to grab the handle, creating tension on the arm

The plate is inclined due to the lack of space between the table and the edge of the plate.

The Requirements

Ergonomic, Functional, Esthetic, Discreate, Affordable, Inclusive

The Prototype

Based on the Calla Lily flower, I started to design a handle with multiple grip points. The plate is shaped like a leaf and its organic form allows us to grave it from different points and ways.
